EAP – English for Academic Purposes

EAP (English for Academic Purposes) is a specialized English course designed for international students who want to study in English-speaking countries but need to improve their language skills before starting a diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s program.

  IELTS Requirement for EAP Programs

  One of the biggest advantages of the EAP pathway is its flexible English language requirement. Many Korean universities accept students with an IELTS score of 5.0, while some universities also provide opportunities for students with IELTS 4.5 depending on the university policy, interview performance, and academic background. This creates a great opportunity for students who may not yet meet higher IELTS requirements but still dream of studying abroad in Korea.

  Study Gap Policy

  Study gap is considered an important factor for admission and visa processing in South Korea. Most universities generally prefer students with a study gap of around 2 to 3 years for undergraduate programs. In some cases, universities may consider longer gaps if the student can properly explain the reason through work experience, internships, training, or other productive activities. However, a long unexplained study gap may reduce the chance of admission or visa approval. Therefore, students are strongly encouraged to apply within an acceptable study gap period to increase their success rate.
